Subtle Plays
The Challenge
Subtle plays can be economically feasible but they can be tricky as they are not always visible or easily identifiable in conventional seismic data.
The Solution
Subtle differences within the seismic data are often enhanced or defined by instantaneous amplitude, phase and frequency and acoustic impedance. AttributeStudio can generate these attributes very quickly by either a volume or a stratagrid. We can then scroll through proportional slices in the stratagrid to see the subtle changes in stratigraphy as well as spatial distribution of amplitudes or other attributes over a single bed. The stratagrid sections have shown to have a powerful ability to reveal subtle depositional features such as bars and channels. A horizon stratagrid can be regarded effectively as a paleo-depositional surface.
