Geomodeling Releases VisualVoxAt Version 5 Seismic Interpretation Software

November 07, 2005

New Software Release Sets the Standard with Real-time Multi-Attribute Cross-Plotting

(HOUSTON - November 7, 2005) - Geomodeling Technology Corp. today announced the 2005 release of VisualVoxAtTM seismic interpretation software. This latest release includes a best-in-class cross-plotting tool and many functionality enhancements, offering maximum productivity for geophysicists and reservoir engineering teams.

"VisualVoxAt 5 is the next milestone in our product line evolution. The increased capability and functionality with the new features is making noise with our customers," says Renjun Wen, President of Geomodeling. "Our cross-plotting tool is built and designed with the needs of our users in mind. When we take their technical expertise and filter it through our developers, the results provide the best in innovation."

New real-time cross-plotting functionality allows the user to interactively compare relationships between different attributes and data sets. The cross-plot tool supports seismic section, volume, horizon, interval, strata-grid and well data displays. Users can easily digitize polygons on cross-plots and identify corresponding features in 2D or 3D seismic, well or map views. Conversely, they can also select zones of interest in seismic or map view and see corresponding data clusters in the cross-plots. The Open GL engine provides fast and seamless display capabilities for more efficient correlations.

VisualVoxAt enables the user to visualize data and quickly identifies the attributes that impact hydrocarbon distribution. The VisualVoxAt Workflow includes Attribute Generation, Spectral Decomposition, Horizon and Fault Picking; Attribute Visualization; Facies Classification; Cross Plotting and Regression, Attribute Calibration and Well Design. As an enhancement to existing seismic interpretation workflows, it can increase productivity and save time and money.

"This is an excellent tool for geophysicists who want to reduce interpretation cycle times," says Renjun Wen, President of Geomodeling. "What we are accomplishing with our software innovation is enabling more accurate well placements and improving oil recovery."

Other enhancements to the software include improved data management displays for more efficient handling of well log data and formation tops. Version 5 also offers enhanced 2D attribute analysis, facies mapping tools and display capabilities similar to those used in 3D analysis. The software can now generate a strata-grid with one or more horizons. It can also extract a model trace, perform waveform correlations and apply facies classification to section and map displays. New grid balancing and mistie solutions enable users to correlate similar events in different lines according to phase, time and amplitude. With increased interactivity between base map and section view, events can be correlated even faster.

The spectral decomposition function now includes Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) algorithms for finer sampling of the seismic trace. The new feature improves detection of thin beds, lateral discontinuities and subtle anomalies not seen on standard displays. Both CWT and Fast Fourier Transform methods can be applied to both 3D and 2D data sets for more comprehensive analysis.

VisualVoxAt version 5 will be ready for shipment in December.
