CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Geomodeling Technology Corp., a leading provider of seismic analysis and cross-scale modeling software for the upstream oil and gas industry, will demonstrate advanced microseismic data analysis and fracture modeling software for interpretation of unconventional oil and gas plays at the upcoming Society of Exploration Geophysicists International Exposition and 80th Annual Meeting, October 17-22 in Denver, Colorado. These new features are part of AttributeStudio™ 6.6, Geomodeling’s cutting-edge seismic attribute interpretation software. The new release of AttributeStudio enables geophysicists to move beyond conventional interpretation, allowing them to correlate Microseismic data to seismic attribute data, calibrate horizontal well data to seismic attributes to quantify fracture density variations and construct bi-wing hydraulic fracture models to optimize well production in shale and tight rock formations.
At SEG 2010 in Denver, Geomodeling will demonstrate how geophysicists using AttributeStudio 6.6 can identify and quantify higher porosity and permeability layers in a shale package or tight gas sands with little amplitude variance. Workflows for unconventional interpretation that will be demonstrated include silt layer delineation in shale using Spectral Decomposition, shale target facies mapping using neural network waveform correlation, shale fracture pattern correlation for optimal horizontal well placement, microseismic data analysis and bi-wing hydraulic fracture modeling for shale.
Geomodeling will also demonstrate new releases of SBED™ and ReservoirStudio™ for Petrel* at SEG 2010. SBED 4.1 includes core plug conditioning for automatic inversion and correlation of core plugs with near-wellbore models to produce accurate vertical and horizontal permeability estimates for lithofacies below well log resolution. ReservoirStudio 5.1 for Petrel includes well conditioning that automatically positions channel models with realistic stratigraphic layering and lithofacies relationships in areas with well control.
