Geomodeling Sponsors Chinese Canadian Geoscience Symposium 2005

In keeping with its commitment to industry collaboration, Geomodeling contributed to this year's Chinese Canadian Geoscience Symposium both as a sponsor and technical presenter. The symposium provided a unique opportunity for Chinese and Canadian geoscientists to meet and exchange ideas and technologies.

On June 18, speakers from China and Canada gathered at the Metropolitan Centre in Calgary, Canada, to present papers on resource evaluation and exploration.

Geomodeling President and CEO, Renjun Wen, presented 'Multi-Scale Heterogeneity Modeling in Reservoir Life Cycle Management: Technology and Business Values'. In his presentation, Wen demonstrated a geological heterogeneity modeling workflow with SBED software. The results show that the modeling approach can provide a more realistic assessment of the subsurface and, hence, improve oil exploration and recovery processes.

Wen also partnered with R.P. Batycky of StreamSim Technologies to present how streamline-based flow simulation of detailed geological models can improve reservoir prediction.

Geomodeling was one of 10 sponsors of the symposium. Other sponsors were: Boyd/PetroSearch, Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, CNOOC Limited, GEO-X Systems Ltd, Husky Energy, PetroChina Company Limited, PSG, Sensor Geophysical Ltd. and Sinopec Corp.
